Three Croatian destinations are among the finalists in the Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards 2019, which have just been announced by the European Travel Commission.

Motovun, Rovinj and the island of Krk were selected in various categories by the jury composed by representatives of ECTN, Europa Nostra, European Travel Commission, NECSTouR and the European Commission, out of 55 applications received from 19 countries.

Rovinj’s Batana Eco-museum is a finalist in the Intangible Heritage category for developing cultural tourism and sustainable communities by safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The dynamic museum is not only dedicated to the traditional wooden boat known as the batana, and fishing tools, but also holds various events that ensure a unique experience of combining tradition and contemporary life, past and present, and the story about an ancient wooden vessel that still remains a part of Rovinj’s everyday life.

Digital presentation of the Cultral Heritage of island of Krk by Island of Krk Tourist Board is a finalist in the Innovation and Digitisation category.

Motovun – the cultural, historical and gastro-oenological center of inland Istria, is a finalist in the Wine Tourism category and is up against Vines Wines Hikes in Loire Valley, France and Armagnac Confidentiel, secret stones and gourmet vines in Pays d’Armagnac.

The winners will be announced at a gala on 24 October in Granda, Spain.
