Chakwal, about a two-hour drive from Islamabad, offers almost every type of tourism. Chakwal is being promoted as Pakistan’s Lake District, with 22 dams and 7 natural lakes. Watersports, survival tourism, hunting, trekking, mountaineering, and a night safari are all available. The Katas Raj Temples, a complex of many Hindu temples, are one of the most famous historical sites. The Holy Pond in the centre was created by Lord Shiva’s teardrops following the death of his wife Sati. In the Hindu epic poem Mahabharata, temples play an important part. The temples are about a 40-minute drive from the Khewra Salt Mines. Salt Ranges, Malot Fort, Kusak Fort, Makhiyala Fort, Sammarkan Fort, and Nanda Fort are just a few of the historic landmarks in Chakwal. Invaders have been attacking these forts for millennia. The Kalla Kahar Lake may be found on the other side of the highway. Her eateries, guesthouses, and hotels have made her a renowned tourist destination.
